As November approaches, the deepening of autumn in Wenzhou brings the charm of the season. The leaves are slowly turning red and yellow. Besides the much-anticipated red maple, residents have more places to enjoy this autumn. Thanks to the advancement of the 2022 “micro-renovation and intensive improvement” project and the construction of beautiful villages, there are more flower-viewing spots, including reeds in the “wetland balconies,” chrysanthemums in the valley, and pink hairawn muhly in the slides. The sea of flowers of various colors is gradually layered, enriching the colors of autumn.
Wave of reeds
Reed flowers are a must-see in autumn. The area of the Danxi Reservoir in Yueqing boasts a wave of reeds, and visitors can enjoy the scenery in the Dongyang Village, Danxi Town.
The reeds in the Sanyang Wetland Scenic Area are concentrated around the West Ring Road and the “Wetland Balcony,” a popular photo spot for visitors. There are also giant reeds in Heding Mountain in Cangnan. The long white reeds stand out like surging spring, swaying with the autumn wind; the reeds of Bantian Mountain in Pingyang are spread along the winding mountain road, featuring cool breeze and the fragrance of the reeds.
Colorful chrysanthemum
Under the Wuyan Mountain in Yongjia County blossoms a sea of flowers made up of sulfur chrysanthemums and canna. Under the autumn sunshine, they swing with the wind and look like a rich golden ocean from a distance.
The sulfur flower chrysanthemum planted at the foot of Wuyan Mountain, also known as Huang Qiuying, is native to Mexico. Its flowering period is until November. There is also a large lawn, where visitors can view flowers, take pictures, sketch, camp, picnic, and enjoy the pleasant autumntime.
In Di’ao Village of Ming’ao, Yongjia grows golden ruddy chrysanthemum, with a planting area of about 60 mu (about 40002 square meters); in Yueqing Beitang Modern Agricultural Sightseeing Park, the large orange-yellow multi-colored zinnias is in the viewing period. Visitors can seize this opportunity to set off their flower-viewing journey!
Pink hairawn muhly
At the main entrance of the Roofed Bridge Cultural Park in Taishun Roofed Bridge Radon Spring Resort, the pink hairawn muhly converges into a “sea.” The lambs are grazing with their heads bowed in the sea of pink flowers, as if staying in a fairy tale pasture. In the Jiuquxi Scenic Area nearby, a purple carpet of sages comes into bloom, adding a romantic air of autumn.
Pink hairawn muhly is referred to as “young beauty” in Chinese. A cloud-like pink catkin grows on the top from September to November every year. When the continuous line of pink hairawn muhly blooming, visitors roaming within will feel like walking in a fairyland in the clouds. The flower-viewing spot has drawn increasing popularity and has become a photogenic spot for social media over the past two years.
In Tiedingliuliu Kid-Friendly Amusement Park, Yueqing, the sea of pink hairawn muhly stretches like waves to form a golden autumn hymn. The flower spikes sway with the wind like a large rolling pink wave, attracting visitors to stop for the best view. In the Jinzhujian Agricultural Sightseeing Park, there is also a vast sea of pink hairawn muhly. Visitors can bring their cameras and take a panoramic photo of this beautiful scenery.
